Important Fact: Nero No Longer Uses The Traditional Activation Method

Regardless of whether you purchased from the Nero official website or the Microsoft Store, you will NOT receive an alphanumeric activation code.
The modern activation method is "account binding + automatic activation"
 – the license is directly linked to your user account. Simply log in to the correct Nero account in Nero Start, and the software activates itself.


1. After Purchasing from the Nero Official Website

  • License bound to: Your Nero account (email address)

  • Activation steps:

    1. Install the Nero Start software

    2. Launch the Nero Start software and log in to your Nero account (the email used for purchase) in Nero Start – activation happens automatically

  • Important notes:

    • You will NOT receive an email with an activation code – only an order confirmation (no code inside)

    • If you reinstall your system, simply install the Nero Start software to log in to your Nero account in Nero Start again to reaccess Nero products


2. Why Asking Nero Support for an Activation Code Doesn't Work

  • Many users say "Please give me an activation code", but Nero no longer uses that traditional system

  • Nero's support system can only find orders linked to a Nero account (email address)

  • There is no activation code for any Nero online order

  • If you are a Microsoft Store user, Nero support cannot find any record in their system – and we have no way of knowing your purchase channel unless you tell us


3. The Right Way to Contact Support (Very Important) 

Start your conversation with the following statement:

"I purchased from the Nero official website with email address xxx@xxx.com . My Nero account email is xxx@xxx.com."

This lets the support person immediately understand that you do not need an activation code, and they will direct you to the right place (Log in to your Nero account in Nero Start to find your Nero products).
